Upwey

Kingcraft’s brief was to completely renovate a circa 1920s single bedroom homestead in the Dandenong Ranges, sympathetic to a federation style dwelling. Building materials wherever possible were to be retained, paying homage to the original residence.

The existing fireplace was dismantled, bricks cleaned and re-laid as pavers, creating meandering garden paths. Double hung windows were removed and restored, new leadlight panels added then refitted, surrounded by hand cast render and exquisite bespoke fretwork.

A second storey was added, with private balconies to the upstairs bedrooms taking full advantage of the picturesque views. Downstairs the original bedroom was converted into a library and reading room, the decks restored and re-laid in Jarrah, and handblown glass pendant lighting and hydronic heating installed throughout.

This property recently sold – achieving the highest ever price for a three bedroom residence in the suburb.
