Olinda

Olinda

Set amongst towering mountain ash on the site of the former landmark Boulter’s nursery in Olinda, this statement residence was designed by architects Lifeform to take full advantage of the landscape.

Caveats on ground slope and bushfire regulations became design strengths, the palette of rammed earth, contrasting Corten and shiplap cladding forms a stunning home worthy of its surrounds.

The home itself comprises two wings. The upper level includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, separate toilet facilities & kitchenette; with a laundry and expansive hall bench overlooking the central courtyard have the ability to form a second dwelling.

The lower level contains the kitchen, butler’s pantry and dining area; the angled ceiling team with polished concrete and expansive glass to playfully throw angles of light across the room. A feature fireplace set in front of the charcoal rammed earth bookends this space, the master bedroom with WIR and attic storage, along with a third bathroom complete this wing.

The curved walls & geometric shapes of this design rewards the viewer & hints at the skill of the design and quality of construction.
